We started with a light switch we couldn't find.

Somewhere in every renovation there's a moment when the paint is done, the fixtures are in, and the plastic light switch on the wall ruins the whole thing. Brass switches existed, but they were either British and didn't fit US boxes, or "brass finish" over steel, or beautiful and uncertified.

Oxide Hardware makes the switch we wanted: solid brass, machined for American boxes, with a UL-listed mechanism and a finish that matches the drawer pulls. And we test every dimmer against real LED bulbs before we'll sell it.

The name comes from what brass does over time. Unlacquered brass oxidizes where you touch it and turns into something that looks like it's been there for a hundred years. We think that's the point.
