Installation
- Turn off the breaker and confirm the circuit is dead with a tester.
- Remove the old switch and note which wire goes where; take a photo.
- Connect the wires to the marked terminals on the new mechanism (line, load, ground; travellers for 3-way / 4-way), following the printed guide in the box.
- Mount and align with the 6-32 brass screws supplied, restore power and test.
Swapping a switch is a common DIY job, but wiring must follow local code and we recommend a licensed electrician. Send a photo of your box to info@oxidehardware.com before ordering if anything looks non-standard.

Returns & warranty
Custom plates are machined to your layout and can't be returned or exchanged unless defective. We confirm the drawing by email before machining, so check it carefully. Damaged or defective on arrival? Email photos within 7 days and we replace it. One-year warranty on materials and workmanship.

Choose how many gangs, how many of them are dimmers, and the finish; tell us the layout left to right; we machine the plate from 0.080" brass, fit UL/ETL listed mechanisms and finish it by hand to match everything else you own from us.

How to order
- Pick the number of gangs and how many dimmers are on the plate.
- Pick the finish. Not sure? Order the finish sample set first.
- In the layout field, type the positions left to right as you see them on the wall, e.g. dimmer, toggle 3-way, toggle, toggle.
- Add to cart. We confirm the drawing by email before machining.
Why solid brass
Most "brass" switches are painted steel or plated zinc: a few microns of colour on a light base that chips at the screw holes and looks flat next to real metal. Ours are cut from 0.080" (2 mm) solid brass sheet, so the plate has the weight, the edge and the depth of colour that only solid metal gives. A magnet will not stick to it. It can be refinished decades from now. And the mechanism behind it is a UL/ETL listed component, not a decorative part, so it wires like any switch your electrician has fitted before.

Finish & care
Unlacquered Brass arrives bright and darkens where it is touched; that living patina is the point. Aged Brass is hand-darkened to a deep bronze tone and stays that way. Satin Brass is evenly brushed, pale and matte. Wipe unlacquered brass with a dry cloth only; aged and satin with a damp cloth. No polish, no chemicals. Every finish is made against the same master sample, so switches, plates and cabinet hardware ordered months apart still match.

Every switch, plate, knob and pull is offered in the same three finishes, made against the same master sample. Order the $25 sample set and hold them against your paint and your cabinets first; it is credited back on your first order over $150.

Installation
Wires like the switch it replaces.
Standard US box spacing, standard screws, standard terminals. Any electrician has done this a hundred times, and a confident DIYer can do it in ten minutes with the breaker off. Every order ships with a printed wiring guide, and if your box looks unusual you can email a photo to info@oxidehardware.com before you order.
