Looking for gold light switches? Every switch and dimmer here is solid brass, the alloy behind the warm gold tone of classic hardware. No gold plating to wear through, no painted coating to chip: the metal is brass all the way through. Each one has a 0.080" solid brass plate, fits standard US boxes and comes in three brass finishes.
Which gold tone do you want?
| Finish | Gold tone | Over time |
|---|---|---|
| Satin Brass | Soft, brushed, pale gold | Sealed with a clear lacquer, stays the same |
| Unlacquered Brass | Bright yellow gold at first | Warms and darkens where hands touch it |
| Aged Brass | Deep, darker antique gold | Sealed, stays the same |
Gold switches and dimmers, 1 to 4 gang
Start with a 1-gang toggle switch or a gold rotary dimmer switch, or line several up on one plate: 2-gang, 3-gang and 4-gang toggle switches, mixed dimmer and switch combos, or the Build Your Own plate with your own mix of toggles and dimmers. Single pole and 3-way versions are available.
Gold light switch FAQ
Are these switches real gold?
No. They are solid brass, an alloy of copper and zinc with a natural gold color. They are not gold plated and not gold painted, so there is no surface layer to wear off.
Which finish is closest to a gold switch plate?
Satin Brass is the closest to a soft, even gold. Unlacquered Brass starts brighter and turns warmer with time.
Will the gold color fade?
Satin and Aged Brass are sealed and keep their color. Unlacquered Brass is raw on purpose: it develops a patina, and you can polish it bright again whenever you want.
Do the gold dimmer switches work with LED bulbs?
Yes, with dimmable LED from 3W to 100W. The single pole dimmer needs a neutral wire in the box. More in our LED dimmer guide.
How do I choose between the finishes?
Order the finish sample set and hold all three against your wall, or compare them on our finishes page.
